Just north of the Gorge on Highway 97 is the pastoral community of Goldendale. Situated in the heart of scenic Klickitat county, Goldendale has a number of attractions including:

  • Goldendale Observatory State Park

    Home to one of the largest telescopes in the nation. Visitors peer through numerous telescopes, including a large 24.5 inch Cassegrain, to view pristine starry skies above the eastern Columbia Gorge. 509-773-3141

    Make sure to checkout the 1902 20-room mansion. Home to the Klickitat County Historical Museum filled with fascinating period furniture and cultural artifacts. 509-773-4303

  • Maryhill Museum of Art
