Info:This rest area is situated on a slight bluff overlooking the Columbia River Gorge with lower Memaloose Island directly to the southwest. With ample parking and several short paved trails, this is a great place to get out and stretch your feet - maybe even enjoy a sunrise or sunset. With restrooms, a water fountain and picnic tables, pack a lunch and spend some time. Memaloose Island was used by Native Americans as a place to lay their dead to rest. In 1805 Lewis and Clark passed by the island and referred to it as "Sepulchar Island". This rest area has some interpretive information for further history about the area. Directly across the river on the Oregon side is Memaloose State Park. Amenities:
