WAHKEENA FALLS

Info:

Wahkeena Falls is a 242 foot waterfall located approximately 13 miles east of Troutdale, Oregon, on the Historic Columbia River Highway. Wahkeena is a Native American term meaning 'most beautiful.'  Visitors to the falls are likely to agree this is a beautiful waterfall in a scenic location.

While the waterfall is visible from the road, it is a short .2 mile hike to a stone bridge that crosses the main part of the falls.  From this bridge you are close enough to feel the spray from the waterfall!  The hike from the parking lot is paved until just before the falls and is a relatively easy walk.  It's a good, short hike to take kids on, but you may want to hold their hand at the very top as there is a spot with a sharp drop off.

If you continue east along the trail past Wahkeena Falls, you can hike all the way to Multnomah Falls.

Many people park along the road to hike up to the falls. However, on the north side of the road directly across from the falls is a circular parking lot that many people miss!  Down in this tree covered area there are bathrooms and picnic tables too. Parking is free at Wahkeena Falls.
