Basket Weaving Classes 

Instructor: Laurie Cross 

Cedar Bark Pouch
Students will construct a small pouch of Western Red Cedar bark. This material has been traditionally used by Northwest indigenous people from several locations. Bring a pocket knife, and an old towel to keep your lap dry.

Saturday, May 30, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.  
Limit: 16 students
Cost: $35 includes materials

Pine Needle Basket
Students will learn to make a small coiled pine needle basket using Ponderosa Pine needles and raffiea. These small baskets are perfect for gifts or for storing small trinkets. Students will also learn when to gather and how to prepare pine needles, and will receive information on various stitching techniques. We will also view a short video of contemporary Native American women demonstrating their coiled basketry work. Bring an old towel and a thimble.
