From the rolling hills of the high plains to the embers of Dresden, Sapling takes you on a journey through a period of mass change and renewal, doubt and redemption. The album was engineered and co-produced by Skyler Norwood at Miracle Lake Studios with the Brothers Spellman (Quiet Life), Nate Clark (On The Stairs) and Jesse Bates (Dolorean, Blue Giant, Holy Sons) providing a stellar supporting cast. Written and recorded over a period of three years, Sapling is a dynamic americana album that has taken its sweet time; brimming with heartfelt songs accentuated by lush arrangements and jangly guitars. Born in the confusion surrounding several deaths, Sapling is about starting anew when your whole world turns out a little different from what you planned: "Oh, the saplings will grow back/from the deep black/of this forest fire."

W.C. Beck is a songwriter and singer from Kansas who has called Portland, OR home for the last five years. In the time since, he has been involved writing, collaborating and recording a host of projects. He is a charter member of Meridian, Les Flaneurs, and The Checkered Present; and has played in On The Stairs, Blue Giant, Pigeons, and The Portland Country Underground. Sapling is his second album released in Portland.

The night will also include two other Portland-based groups, Garett Brennan & The Great Salt Licks and Huck Notari. The late (great), Rediviva Magazine has described Brennan as follows: "There's more the Portland roots-music scene than an attic full of quaint old instruments and a Luddite's disdain for amplification. Filtered through the fine musical sensibilities of performers and writers like Garett Brennan and his supergroup, The Great Salt Licks." Brennan actually does all his writing in the Hood River Valley.
