KLICKITAT TRAIL CELEBRATION AND HIKE
Saturday, May 21, 2011
11 a.m.
Lyle Trailhead
Lyle, WA
Hike from Lyle to Fisher Hill Bridge (jointly with Friends of the Columbia Gorge) 4 miles round trip; Easy
Hike Leaders: KTC President Cheryl Steindorf, KTC Vice President Barbara Robinson, and Aubrey Russell (Nancy Russell's son).
Please join KTC for a gala celebration honoring not just one, but two, dramatic milestones for the Klickitat Trail. The first is our beautiful new trailhead in Lyle. The second is the decking of the Fisher Hill Trestle, a high, dramatic trestle with a spectacular view of the lower Klickitat River Canyon. This trestle has been closed to all public access for seven years.
The celebration starts at 11:00 with dignitaries speaking in honor of these achievements. After this (approximately between 12:00 and 12:30 pm), we will hike the two miles to the redecked Fisher Hill Trestle and do more celebrating there. We may have KTC board members stationed along the Trail for the remainder of the afternoon. Trail snacks will be provided.
Meeting Place: 11:00 AM, Lyle Trailhead. Look for people or signs directing you to parking since the trailhead itself does not have enough parking for this event.
