Join us for the opening of PLEIN AIR, on September 3rd, from 6 pm to 8 pm. The PLEIN AIR Show will run September 3– 26, 2010.

Now in its sixth year, Pacific Northwest Plein Air 2010 in the Columbia River Gorge, is a series of art events and wine tasting opportunities featuring the art and literary works of accomplished painters and writers. At the heart of the event is a five-day Paint-Out and Write-Out where works of art and writing are created at various outdoor locations in and around the Columbia River Gorge-the nation's first designated National Scenic Area. Works of art will subsequently be available for viewing and sale during a month-long gallery show at Columbia Art Gallery. Forty artists have been selected by a panel of jurors to participate in this year's event. Artists, writers, and art lovers all get opportunities to share in the fun. 

Opening Reception
Meet the Artists First Friday, September 3 6pm - 8pm
Forty accomplished artists were selected by jury to participate in this year's Plein Air art show. Here's your chance to meet them and to learn about their art. Plein Air artist awards will be announced this evening. Appetizers will be served. Beer and wine available.

Gallery Show
More than 100 Plein Air works to choose from! September 3 - 26 Daily, 11am - 6pm
Plein Air art painted by participating artists primarily during the 5 day Paint-Out in the Columbia River Gorge will be for sale throughout the month. Also on display will be select literary works of writers who participated in the parallel 5 day Write-Out.

Public Reading of Literary Works
Support your local writers September 19, 7pm
The public is invited to hear writers read select samples of their works created during the 5-day Write-Out. Also mark your calendar to view the Online Anthology, which will launch on the Columbia Arts website October 20.

Quick Draw Paint-Out
Open to anyone who wants to paint or watch September 25, 9:30am - 2pm
Any artist, experienced or not, is welcome to participate in this Paint-Out event, to be held downtown Hood River and at the Hood River Marina. 

Quick Draw Gallery Show & Wine Tasting
Featuring paintings created earlier in the day September 25, 6pm - 8pm
Here's a chance for art enthusiasts to purchase original works of art, created earlier in the day, at affordable prices. Also a chance to enjoy great local wines!
